David Reynolds founded the business in 1996, and has nurtured it to become one of the most respected building preservation companies in Cornwall and across the South West.

Born in 1965, David Reynolds grew up in the fishing village of Flushing where his father ran the local boat yard in the 1970s. He was educated at Flushing Primary School and Penryn Comprehensive, and then took his A-Level exams at Falmouth sixth form.

In 1983 he joined McCoy-Hill (a previously large and well-known preservation firm) as a Treatments Technician at their Truro branch. This was supposed to have been a temporary job, however he discovered a genuine interest in old buildings and decided to stay on and develop this career (rather than follow his originally intended career as a graphic designer). Subsequently he worked for smaller firm based in Falmouth for a while, then in 1993 he took a position as Area Surveyor for the largest National preservation firm at that time, Peter Cox Preservation. Grateful for the experience and excellent technical training he received, but disillusioned by the increasingly sales- and target-orientated direction of this large firm, David Reynolds founded David Reynolds Building Preservation in 1996 to provide the personal and flexible service he felt his clients needed.

David now lives in Redruth with his wife and their young son, where they have a Victorian terraced house in a quiet residential part of the town. Despite the demands from his work, David still makes time for family life and his other interests, which include sea fishing and mountain biking.
